Serving the Chemical Industry
Today’s chemical industry is more complex than ever. It includes every imaginable chemical process, in all sizes and combinations, overlaid by a huge and still-growing body of regulations and safety concerns. There is global competition of the highest order and customers who demand the highest quality at the lowest cost, every day and at every location.
Air Products can make a real difference in your operation. With our complete range of supply options and our ability to mix and match them to suit your needs, we can give you the edge you need. We stay with you all the way, from engineering design to installation, start-up, and routine operation.
Air Products’ LaPorte natural gas gasification unit outside Houston, Texas is one of a number of plants supplying our Houston pipeline system.
Talk with us about your requirements, and we’ll match them to our diverse range of technologies and systems based on nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, carbon monoxide, and specialty gases. From simple applications such as reactor inerting and tank blanketing to integrated feedstock and utility supplies. From a few cubic feet of industrial gas to several thousand tons per day, we can save you time getting to the right solution.
Air Products can help you use industrial gases in ways that reduce your operating costs and increase your return on investment, help reduce environmental emissions, enhance safety levels, improve product quality, and maintain the reliability your customers expect.
Cost-effective, integrated supply

Air Products offers a complete range of industrial gas supply options including dedicated on-site cryogenic and noncryogenic systems, pipeline, liquid, and cylinders.
Dedicated on-sites. We offer a full range of gas supply options, from very large, customized steam reformers and air separation plants to smaller, standardized units designed for rapid installation. For example, Air Products’ steam methane advanced reforming technology can supply hydrogen at continuous volumes as low as half a million cubic feet per day (600 Nm³/h).
Pipelines. Air Products operates a growing network of facilities and pipelines that supply oxygen, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen to chemical processing centers in Texas, Louisiana, South Korea, Thailand, and the Netherlands.
Air Products’ Texas Gulf Coast pipelines are multisourced to enhance reliability and improve flexibility.

PRISM nitrogen and oxygen systems. Producing nitrogen and oxygen at purities of 90% and above, these systems are available in a wide variety of size ranges. They also offer rapid installation and cost-effective operation.
Merchant liquid. Air Products operates hundreds of liquid and bulk industrial gas facilities worldwide, so you can be sure we are strategically placed to serve your site.
Air Products offers a wide range of technologies and services incorporating industrial gases in the manufacture of chemical products. Technologies and systems based on nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, carbon monoxide, and specialty gases are essential to many chemical production processes and provide for increased production in others.
Examples include:
Waste gas recovery. Using proprietary membrane technology in petrochemical plants, Air Products’ PRISM Separators can separate gases such as hydrogen from ammonia purge gas waste streams, with purities ranging from 90% to 98%, for reuse in the process.
Hydrogenation technical support. We can provide objective analysis, vendor referral, laboratory facilities, computer simulations, and pilot plant facilities. This support is available for our customers’ troubleshooting, development, or process optimization.

Environmental protection. Air Products’ cryogenic VOC recovery process uses liquid nitrogen in an efficient cooling system offering both environmental and financial benefits. Pure oxygen, when used in aerobic biological processes, can offer cost savings either as a simple retrofit or as part of a new installation.
Air Products’ PROMAPSM. This safety analysis service, based on a unique computerized system, helps plant operators who must combine oxygen and hydrocarbons to pinpoint potential safety problem areas, providing safety margins not practically attainable before this system.
